The Pit is a multi-level cenote dive and one of the greatest cenotes in the Riviera Maya.

This top-class cenote dive offers a legendary experience. As you descend into the deep blue waters of the Mayan underworld, you’ll glide over thousand-year-old fallen trees before reaching the eerie hydrogen sulfide cloud that lingers at depth. Moving through this ghostly layer, you’ll encounter one of the thickest and most mesmerizing haloclines, creating a surreal visual effect that makes this cenote dive in The Pit unforgettable.

This sinkhole cenote boasts limitless visibility, allowing you to take in the immense beauty of your surroundings. Looking below, the vast openness induces a vertigo-like sensation, while the white limestone walls enclose you like a natural amphitheater.

Above, the speleothem-covered ceiling reveals laser-like sunbeams piercing through, adding to the mystical atmosphere of this extraordinary cenote diving experience.

Location

Cenote the Pit is part of the system Sac Actun, the longest underwater cave system in the world of 364 kms. It is situated 45 km south of Playa del Carmen, 15 km north of Tulum. Cenote the Pit is legendary. It’s in the bucket list for divers pilgriming around the world. Thrilling and stunning. At the entrance of the property you will see a small toll where we pay the entrance fees and you will be welcomed by the smiling Mayan staff. After a short ride of 8 minutes, you will reach the main parking and start your cenote diving adventure. It’s clean and the infrastructure of the park is very good. Cenote diving in the Pit is euphoric.

Cenote the Pit is suggested with Cenote Barbie Line or Batcave as a double tank.
